Each year, Women Giving Together members and friends gather to celebrate
the important roles women play in our community ~ most particularly as
philanthropists who make a conscious decision to positively impact the lives
of women and children in White County.
Each luncheon features a keynote speaker, honors a Woman (or Women)
of the Year, and recognizes our WGT Grant recipients from the previous year.
The 2013 Luncheon was held on June 14 at the Brandywine Center in
Monticello and welcomed over 200 women who support the mission of WCCF’s
Women Giving Together Fund.
Janet Ayres, Purdue professor and passionate advocate for women and
communities, provided our keynote address, highlighting the potential women
have to impact their world through philanthropy, particularly in our rural,
Nancy Skinner was honored, in memoriam, as WGT’s Woman of the Year,
together with all members of White County’s eleven Extension Homemakers
Clubs, who are celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2013.
Our 2012 grant recipients were recognized and thanked for their invaluable
support of our community’s women and families.
The day closed with a special tribute to Linda Fain, WGT Committee chairperson
and inveterate community cheerleader, who died unexpectedly in May.
